Most american recording

I ran across a poll on a sports blog, asking for opinions on the question “WHAT IS THE MOST QUINTESSENTIALLY AMERICAN THING EVER RECORDED?” The winner of the poll was Ray Charles singing “America the Beautiful.” Followed by John F. Kennedy Next up was FDR “Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”: FDR’s [...]

They killed Renee

As the great 24 nears its end, they’ve killed off yet another. This time, Renee. Part luke skywalker to Jack’s Yoda, part soul mate. She got mean quick. And she’s pretty. What’s not to like? On the other side of the ledger, my other favorite 24 girl got a promotion. Chloe is running the show. [...]

Greenpeace: Koch big money behind climate change denial science

The Koch Industries (petroleum is in their umbrella) funded all the most well-known anti-climate change science in the last decade. This is a very enlightening report, please scan over it. The writeup at Huffington is here. Green jobs cost jobs and money report from Spain? Koch funded it. It was a bunk report anyway – [...]

Grigory Perelman (or Grisha) is a russian math genius, who was the first person to solve one of the Millenium Prize Problems. Grigory turned down a $1,000,000 prize previously, and is under pressure to accept another $1 million prize. He’s previously said he’s got everything he wants and has no desire for fame or fortune. An unexpected visitor

This little guy showed up to play on my porch. Probably spent the afternoon digging up my plants or eating the seeds before I noticed it. Timmy, rather than chase the rodent off- was busy sleeping. Saving up energy so he can tear around the apartment as if he’s on fire. But of course, he [...]

Jose Gonzalez – Heartbeats

Its a cover, apparently. I dig it – although at this point I’ve completely ignored the words. I found this while searching for a javascript solution – a computer geek somewhere out in internet-land had this embedded into their webpage. Lyrics came from this link. One night to be confused One night to speed up [...]

Palau and Global Warming

A friend* recently spent some time in Palau. Please enjoy browsing through these images, as Palau’s and other low-lying island nation’s existence is threatened as sea levels rise. The great barrier reef may not last long, additionally. More related reading: Global Warming Ten Most Affected Areas President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr., aptly spoke to the [...]

A Haitian Rescue

These rescue workers make me proud. Meanwhile, while people are donating money to get food and water to the people of Haiti – a religious group is sending solar-powered audible bibles. Nothing like pushing an agenda during a tragedy, eh? Bible pushers should get a real job. Added: Three days later, another rescue against the [...]

Healthday: Exercise and Coffee reduce prostrate cancer risk

I saw that title and thought, “Great, all those years of drinking coffee will pay off with more than just stained teeth.” Of course, that only applies if the exercise part of the equation can be neglected. I’d previously read that coffee reduces prostrate cancer risk, so this wasn’t a huge shock. http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20091209/hl_hsn/coffeeexercisefightprostatecancer More about [...]

Ed Begley Jr’s good advice

If you want to know about a particular science, talk to the scientists. Don’t get your science news from someone who doesn’t understand it. In this clip, Ed attempts to get through a Fox idiot anchor’s think skull, who seems to think that an inhabitable earth impinges on his freedoms. Fox = Stupidity and Ignorance. [...]
