And before that, we learned that senator Jim Demint stopped a piece of legislation that would have prevented secret holds in the senate. And he obstructs that legislation while stating his opposition to the secret holds – while preventing legislation that would have stopped it.

Amazing to say it after the year of saying no, but the republican party is finding new and creative ways of obstructing legislative work.

Today Mike Pence (R) of Indiana was on Hardball with Todd in for Matthews.

You’ll notice in this clip below, that Pence launches into talking points immediately.
The question is almost ignored, if favor of spewing lies.

He pretends to talk for americans. Sorry Pence, most of us still dwell in reality.
He complains about spending – another talking point, considering 85% of the deficit was in place before Obama took office.

Its a shameful, arrogant display that shows little regard for the intelligence of conservative viewers, but this is american conservative politics.

This time around, with wall street reform, the democrats are fighting back instead of assuming that the public was smart enough not to fall for egregious lies.

Shortly after the president’s speech to wall street today, harry reid displayed video of republican senate leader mitch mcconnell and denounced it.

They adore the rich, even at their own expense (guess they must have HATED the tax rates under Eisenhower).
Some want to abolish public education (great, lol).

Last night (this morning) CNN has a short segment explaining who pays what as far as taxes are concerned.

over $1,000,000 yearly income, pays 25%.
And incomes below that pay less (17% if I remember right).

So CNN, is making the claim that the wealthy pay more in taxes.
This is a BS comparison, and CNN should be ashamed of televising it.

The problem is that CNN completely ignores where the majority of our wealthiest make their money.
Which is NOT from a salary of more than 1,000,000 dollars (some CEOs yes, but a small group).
They make more of their money from investments in stocks bonds etc.

And money made from stocks is taxed at 15%, which is the long term capital gains tax rate after Bush got through with it (lowest rate in history).

So CNN’s comparison is pointless, and they help propagate the myth that rich taxpayers pay their fair shares of taxes.
They don’t.
They pay less than the bracket below them.

CNN, you aren’t Fox, and I give you credit for that.
But this incomplete, myth-encouraging segment had NO VALUE at all.
