Willie, a Quaker parrot, has been given the local Red Cross chapter’s Animal Lifesaver Award.

In November, Willie’s owner, Megan Howard, was baby-sitting for a toddler. Howard left the room and the little girl, Hannah, started to choke on her breakfast.

Willie repeatedly yelled “Mama, baby” and flapped his wings, and Howard returned in time to find the girl already turning blue.

Some deny that the recession is over, claiming the worst is yet to come.
I figure this group has invested heavily in gold.

Some point to specific examples in their lives as proof that the recession is not yet over (my neighbor just lost her job).
These comments are laughably stupid and ignorant of the definition of a recession.

And others think that the recovery would have come quicker without the stimulus.

Welcome news, as the president has stated that he would veto legislation that added to the deficit.

And this should (it won’t) settle down the suddenly budget-conscious republicans who scream about the cost without any factual reason.

And yet, there is lindsey graham (republican) on Fox after hearing the news stating that we should start over.

And likely, as this administration’s successes grow – right-wing media will continue to get crazier. As evidence for that, watch Glenn Beck. Or read this article about Bill Ayers joking that he wrote Barack Obama’s “dreams of my father”.

It seems that well-remembered men of historical importance often born into families of means.
I’ve been reading a book about the top 100 scientists in history, with short biographies of the top 100 scientists as ranked by the authors.

None so far into the book as I’ve read have been born into poverty.
Not a surprise.
